Position Description:
The Fuel Polishing Technician will perform fuel filtration services to maintain fuel system quality and efficiency. This role involves supporting fuel management operations at various job sites, with responsibilities including operating fuel polishing equipment, maintaining service logs, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory guidelines. The Technician will transport equipment and materials required for fuel filtration, following strict protocols for loading, transportation, and unloading. Cross-training will also be provided in the safe handling and transport of hazardous waste materials. This role may involve occasional travel, up to 12 nights over 12 weeks, with a maximum of four consecutive nights and up to 8 hours of daily driving. Advanced notice and per diem rates will be provided.
Training Requirements: This position requires approximately 8-10 weeks of initial training, split evenly between our Northern California and Southern California offices. The Southern California office is located in Santa Ana, CA. During the training period, occasional travel will be required, and the individual will have the option to return home on weekends. Travel costs, including per diem, transportation, and hotel accommodations, will be covered by the company
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Perform pre-trip inspections of the truck, and load necessary tools, equipment, and parts for the day.
- Specialize in fuel filtration and polishing services, with cross-training as a Hazardous Waste Hauler.
- Drive 20–150-mile distances daily from the office to job sites, with occasional overnight stays.
- Conduct fuel polishing operations at client sites, ensuring compliance with all safety and environmental protocols.
- Communicate with client representatives to ensure job requirements are understood and fulfilled.
- Inspect fuel tanks and monitoring systems for alarms or notifications related to filtration needs.
- Safely climb trucks/tanks up to 10 feet high to position pump equipment and secure barrels for transportation.
- Load, transport, and unload drums of waste when necessary, following hazardous waste handling procedures.
- Deliver empty barrels and/or remove full barrels from client sites, visiting up to six sites per day.
- Complete daily work orders and maintain accurate records.
- Adhere to all health and safety protocols, with a focus on fuel-related tasks.
- 2-3 years of driving experience, including navigating 31’ trucks in tight spaces like narrow alleys.
- Class A or B Driver’s License with a clean driving record; Tankers and/or Hazardous endorsements required.
- Availability for overtime and out-of-town travel with advanced notice.
- Strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to represent the company professionally both internally and externally.
- Knowledge of the petroleum industry and fueling systems.
- Familiarity with Veeder Root monitoring systems and current PEI regulations.
- Familiarity or Past Certifications acquired for: HazWoper, Fall Protection, Confined Space and other safety training.
- Understanding of hazardous waste handling protocols (preferred but not primary).
- Basic computer literacy for email and completing electronic forms.
- Complete background check, MVR, physical examination, and drug screening.
- Ability to drive long distances, occasionally up to 1,000 miles per week.
- Capacity to work on job sites with various terrains, including dirt, cement, asphalt, uneven surfaces, or construction zones.
- Ability to lift and transport barrels weighing between 40-500 lbs. (with a barrel dolly and assistance).
- Comfort working at heights up to 10 feet with proper fall protection PPE.
Salary range for position: $25/hr - $35/hr
