Position Description
This Laborer position will work in our Construction department. The Petroleum Storage Tank Laborer plays a critical role in the environmental compliance efforts of our clients. Our Associates test, maintain, repair and install all refueling equipment for the petroleum industry, as well as commercial and municipal refueling facilities, marinas, and airports. The Laborer will continue to learn state and local regulatory directives regarding storage and monitoring systems while increasing their skillset performing testing, installation, and repairs. Laborers will work closely with Foreman to learn to become a company representative and will begin to perform troubleshooting, repair, and installation without direct supervision. Additionally, the Laborer will learn to serve as the eyes and ears of our clients identifying and documenting all system issues. At TAIT, we understand the importance of work-life balance, which is why we offer the opportunity to dispatch from home to suit the needs of our dedicated team members.

Training Requirements: This position requires a minimum of 6 months’ apprenticeship at Tait or equivalent industry experience.  This position will require overnight travel 25-75% of the time. Travel costs including per diem, transportation, and hotel stays will be paid for by the company.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Complete required training classes, both in person and online, to obtain position required certifications.
  • Attend training classes, both in person and online, to obtain required certifications.
  • Learn and demonstrate proper UST & AST system and component installation techniques by assisting Foreman while on site. 
  • Learn and demonstrate proper use of tools and equipment specific to the job at hand. 
  • Diagnose and perform repairs on UST & AST systems by assisting Foreman while on site. 
  • Fill out project associated paperwork. 
  • Enter inspection data / associated paperwork into online web-based data collection systems using company laptop. 
  • Use a computer to input timecards and work orders daily.
  • When necessary, drive the company work truck to client job sites.
  • Perform all work safely according to company and client job safety requirements. 

Minimum Work Experience
  • Valid & current Driver’s License and ability to drive extensively up to 1,000 miles per week.
  • Experience working with general handheld tools (pipe wrenches, pipe threader, voltmeter, etc.)
  • Organization and scheduling skills.
  • Previous experience with laptop/ computer and printer along with experience using email, and Microsoft programs.
  • Proficiency in all Construction Apprentice position requirements, plus:
  • Valid 24-hour HAZWOPER certificate
  • Valid State Designated Operator certificate (A/B Operator)
  • Valid Veeder Root installer certification
  • Valid Incon certificate
  • Valid ICC or State Specific Service Technician Certification (where applicable)
  • Valid manufacturer and/or state certifications for line testing and sump/spill bucket testing

Preferred Education and Skills Experience
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills and a desire to function in a position of high visibility both internal and external to the company.
  • Experience review and interpreting reports and documents.
  • Ability to work effectively & professionally with team & clients.

Physical Requirements
  • Climbing ladders; carrying/ using hand tools & parts; lifting sump lids with assistance.
  • Walking, driving, climbing, kneeling, standing to perform tasks at each site.
  • Ability to speak clearly & professionally to communicate with team & clients.
  • Ability to drive a vehicle to job sites and ability to drive extensive distances, up to 1,000 miles per week.
  • Ability to walk around job sites that may be dirt, cement, asphalt, uneven concrete, other.
Salary and Benefits
Salary range for position: $20/hr - $30/hr
